This selection of field notes offers a glimpse into my ongoing creative work at Ballindoon. Photographs, colour studies, fragments of writing and observational notes trace encounters with Ballindoon as I begin to experiment with how these experiences might move into watercolour.

Over the coming year, I will continue to develop this body of work through drawing and painting, exploring atmosphere, light and shifting perspective, with a particular focus on what is revealed and what remains partially obscured.

Ongoing Work

Sounds of Ballindoon

A new series of sound studies will explore the relationship between sound, place and Ballindoon’s renewal.

Bringing together audio with visual interpretations of sound through watercolour, graphite and photography, these studies will explore how water, stone, timber, weather and movement carry sound through the landscape.

While traces of past soundscapes will form part of the series, at its heart is an exploration of sound as a creative force: how sound draws the landscape near across time, activates place and opens up new possibilities.
