RiverBank Conversations

Picnic Stories from River Cong

This spring, a new strand of LifeWays will unfold along the banks of the River Cong.

Riverbank Conversations is a sequence of informal filmed encounters with people who share a connection to the river, held outdoors, close to the water’s edge. Each meeting happens over a modest picnic of bread and tea.

As these moments unfold, conversation moves between memory and landscape.

These reflective exchanges are shaped by season and atmosphere:

Wind moving through reeds

Birdsong carrying across the bank

Light altering the surface of the river

From this setting, reflections gather around early memories of the water, moments of change or return, familiar acts of walking, fishing, swimming or simply looking, and the subtle ways relationship with place takes form.

The river is met as companion and guide, as we explore how places are known, felt, and carried into memory.

Episodes will be released throughout spring.

Riverbank Conversations forms part of a continuing artist-led exploration of place, remembrance and how memory settles into place and reveals itself through conversation.

By listening to voices where experience occurs, the series builds a living archive along the river, honouring everyday encounter as a form of knowledge and care.
